GTAA Toronto Pearson Runway Charity Run

The Event

On Saturday, June 21, 2008, the GTAA will be hosting a new and very exciting event at the airport – a Runway Run!

Members of the general public and the airport community are invited to run or walk along Runway 06R-24L to raise money for the William Osler Health Centre’s Emergency Department at Etobicoke General Hospital. This could be your only chance to get next to an active runway while enjoying some great exercise. Sign up early, as there is limited space available for these events.

There will be two events: a 5 km chip-timed run, and a 2 km family fun walk.

• Parking and Sign-In: GTAA Administration Building and Pass/Permit Office
• Awards ceremony  to follow the races

Charity

We chose to raise funds for the William Osler Health Centre to honour the airport’s ongoing relationship with the hospital’s Emergency Department. Along with other hospitals in the area, William Osler provides excellent service for the GTAA's emergency response team.

Experience the Evolution is a campaign that will renew the facilities and resources available to Osler’s emergency care teams in order to get the unit running at an even higher level. Plans are underway for new sub-acute and paediatric areas. Your support will directly benefit the tools and spaces used to care for people when they need it most.

Encourage others to sponsor your run! Help to give generously, and go home with some cash of your own. Collect a gift certificate for getting pledges in the following amounts:

• $150 pledge = $10
• $250 pledge = $20
• $500 pledge = $50
• $1000 pledge = $100

*Pledge prizes are not cumulative.

Race Details

We have partnered with the Running Room to provide assistance with registration and race support. Go to the Running Room website to register for a race or learn more about the events.

Race Start Times:

• 5 km Timed Run: 9:00 a.m.
• 2 km Fun Walk: 9:15 a.m.

Registration:

You can register individually for the 5 km timed run or the 2 km fun walk. For a great deal and lots of fun, sign up for the 2 km fun walk as a family (minimum 4, maximum 6).

Race Kit Pickup:

Pick up your race kits at the Running Room store near Square One in Mississauga.

Rules and Guidelines:

Due to the sensitive nature of the runway, only necessary personal belongings will be allowed onto the course.

• Litter is extremely hazardous to aircraft operations.
• No roller blades or bicycles.
• No pets.
• No smoking.
• Please wear appropriate footwear and attire.
