Pass/Permit Control OfficeThe Pass/Permit Control Office (Pass Office) issues Restricted Area Identification Cards (RAICs), keycards, parking permits, vehicle markers, and Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permits (AVOPs) and provides other administrative services and training. At capacity, approximately 150–200 applications are processed by Pass Office personnel on a daily basis. Hours of Operation
The office is open from 7:30 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. The office is closed weekends, statutory holidays, and every second Wednesday of the month. Peak PeriodsSeasonal peak periods result in higher than normal volumes of applicants attending the Pass Office. Additional Pass Office personnel are hired to assist during peak periods which occur in the summer from March through May and prior to the Christmas season from September through November.Services by AppointmentRestricted Area Identification Cards (RAICs): The GTAA has implemented an appointment-based system for RAIC applications and processing. This includes applicants who are new to the airport, airport employees returning to the Pass Office to exchange their temporary pass for a permanent RAIC, as well as employees renewing or updating their RAIC. Contact the Pass Office to book an appointment at the number provided at the bottom of this page.A web-enabled booking service will be activated shortly that will allow signing authorities to book appointments for their staff online as well as check appointment availability by way of an online calendar. Twenty-four hours cancellation notice is required for all scheduled appointments. A $50.00 administrative fee will be charged to the applicant’s company signing authority for missed appointments and appointments that are cancelled with less than twenty-four hours notice. Upon issuance, RAICs require a twenty-four hour processing period for the purpose of synchronizing an applicant’s RAIC data with various internal security systems. A newly issued RAIC may not work or provide access until the twenty-four hour processing period has passed. A Pass Office employee is dedicated to responding to inquiries and troubleshooting during all office hours. Group Appointments: The Pass Office offers after hours appointments for large groups of new hires, especially during peak periods. Companies requiring large group processing may contact the Pass Office to book an appointment at the number provided at the bottom of this page. Please note that there is an administrative cost for appointments processed after hours. AVOP Testing: Appointments for AVOP practical testing are now handled by the AVOP Office. Contact the GTAA AVOP Office for more information or to book an AVOP practical test. Upon successful completion of the test, Pass Office personnel will issue AVOPs to applicants with the applicable documentation. Walk-in ServicesWalk-in services shall remain in effect for the following fast-track items: keycards, parking permits, vehicle markers, and AVOPs (with the proper accompanying documentation). Applicants visiting the Pass Office for any walk-in services will be processed on a first come, first served basis depending on the availability of service personnel. A queuing system shall be implemented and managed by Pass Office personnel during office hours for all services.Pass Office LocationsAs of December 2008, the Pass Office has relocated to the Terminal 1 Parking Garage, Level 5.
