GTAA Announces Retirement of VP, Human Resources and Administration

The Vice President, Human Resources and Administration, Mr. D. Vito Lotito, has announced his retirement, effective April 30, 2010.

Lloyd McCoomb, President and CEO of the GTAA recognized Mr. Lotito for his 14 years of service and his work in dealing with union negotiations and consolidations while Toronto Pearson has continued to flourish.

“Vito will be missed and I wish him all the best in retirement. We will begin the process of finding a replacement to lead the Human Resources department in very short order” said Mr. McCoomb.

Mr. Lotito joined the GTAA in January, 1996 as one of the founding employees of the airport authority. He has worked diligently to negotiate through seven rounds of union negotiation and most recently the consolidation of four collective agreements into one collective agreement.

During the first 10 years of Mr. Lotito’s GTAA career, the airport was in the midst of a $4.4 billion dollar redevelopment program that took a significant amount of effort and attention for the executive team to ensure that the normal day to day operations of the airport were unaffected. Mr. Lotito’s dedication in leading the Human Resources department through this time of constant change has been pivotal in allowing the GTAA to strive for continuous improvement and in creating opportunities within the organization for staff members.
