On November 28, the Board of Directors of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) announced the appointment of Marilynne E. Day-Linton as Chair of the Board of Directors for a two-year term, effective January 1, 2009. Ms. Day-Linton succeeds Mr. Warren Hurren, who served as Chair of the Board since 2005.

Ms. Day-Linton is a Chartered Accountant (C.A.) and has been a member of GTAA’s Board of Directors since May 2004. She was nominated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and has served as the Chair of the Board's Audit Committee since February 2007.

Ms. Day-Linton has an extensive business background in various aspects of the travel industry. She formerly held senior management positions with Signature Vacations, the Gemini Group Limited Partnership and Wardair International Ltd. Ms. Day-Linton has served as a board member for various organizations, including The Travel Industry Council of Ontario and Kingsway College School.

Outgoing Chair Mr. Hurren, C.A., is a founding member of the accounting firm Hurren, Sinclair, MacIntyre, Chartered Accountants. He has served on the Board since May 2001 as the member nominated by the Regional Municipality of Durham’s Board of Trade.

The GTAA’s Board expressed its appreciation for Mr. Hurren’s outstanding leadership during his time as Chair, particularly for guiding the GTAA through the development of a new Strategic Plan that will guide the corporation for the many years to come. In addition, Mr. Hurren’s hard work and dedication was recently recognized with an award for Excellence in Corporate Governance from the Mississauga Board of Trade.

The GTAA’s 15-member Board is drawn from persons nominated by four regional municipalities, the City of Toronto, the province and the federal government. The Boards of Trade/Chambers of Commerce in the Greater Toronto Area can also nominate to the Board, as can the Law Society, Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Association of Professional Engineers.
