Toronto Pearson and Earth Hour 2009
Toronto Pearson has once again signed up to participate in Earth Hour. The global event is meant to raise awareness of global warming, by encouraging people and businesses to reduce power consumption for the hour of 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on March 28.

Building on the success of last year’s Earth Hour experience, the following reductions will take place at Toronto Pearson:

- lighting will be reduced in the terminals, some parking areas and support buildings.
- external signage will be reduced.
-  tenants such as concessions have been encouraged to reduce their lighting heating, ventilation and air conditioning will be reduced or turned off where possible.
- some moving walkways will be turned off.

Safety and security systems will not be affected by Earth Hour initiatives and airfield lighting will remain at a level necessary to help with safe operations.

Passengers will notice signage throughout the terminals and will hear announcements about Earth Hour as they travel through Toronto Pearson.

The GTAA is proud to participate in this worthwhile event, and is committed to reducing energy consumption year round.
