Toronto Pearson TodayAdvice for March Break TravellersDate of Release: 2008-03-06
Many travellers will be attempting to get a jumpstart on their winter break this Friday. The GTAA anticipates Friday, March 7 to be the busiest travel day leading into the March Break. Passenger traffic is expected to increase by 14 per cent compared to a typical day, with more than 100,000 people passing through Toronto Pearson International Airport.
In preparation for the increased activity and to help ensure a successful travelling experience, the GTAA is encouraging March Break travellers to remember: 1) Confirm your flight status before travelling to the airport either through your airline or by visiting GTAA.com 2) Be aware of the restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols. These items must be packed in a 100 ml container and fit into a single litre clear and resealable plastic bag per passenger. For more information on how to pack smart, please visit the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority’s website at www.catsa.acsta.ga.ca 3) Check with your airline regarding information on baggage allowances and suggested check-in times. This will help you plan in advance how much to pack, and how early you should arrive at the airport before your flight. 4) Plan your transportation to the airport and back. Toronto Pearson offers the following services: Valet Parking at Terminal 1, GTAA Reduced Rate Parking Area, Airport LINK, Cell Phone Parking lot designed for passenger drop off and pick up, and the Airport Customer Assistance Program (ACAP) for passengers with mobility issues. Travellers should also be mindful of March 16 as another busy day at Toronto Pearson as people return home at the end of the break. Approximately 97,000 passengers will be through the airport that day, an increase of 9 per cent when compared to a typical day.
