Toronto Pearson TodayAirport and Foreign Affairs Staff Team up to Bring Business to TorontoDate of Release: 2009/06/12
On June 8, a group of Canada’s representatives to the world met at Toronto Pearson International Airport to hear from Canadian businesses on how to best serve Canada’s economy. As part of the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, these dedicated public servants provide a valuable tool for establishing links between local and foreign businesses and in facilitating trade.
At their meeting in Toronto, a number of Trade Commissioners to the United States and Asia gathered to listen to industry representatives and learn more about the needs of business and how they can provide further value. As the operator of Canada’s leading air cargo gateway to the world, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority was invited to participate. Airport representatives provided a comprehensive overview of air cargo logistics and supply chain management, as well as the importance of the gateway strategy and the challenges faced by the air transportation industry. As part of the federal government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Trade Commissioners help thousands of Canadian companies compete internationally. Trade Commissioners are located in more than 150 cities worldwide and in Regional Offices across Canada. Now more than ever, Canadian businesses need to build their own links to global value chains. This is the “added value” that government services can provide, illustrating that even in these tough economic times, there are opportunities out there. Trade Commissioners can help businesses save time and money. For more information on how the Canadian Trade Commission can work for you, visit www.tradecommissioner.gc.ca.
