Toronto Pearson TodayDC-3 Viewing at Toronto PearsonDate of Release: 2007/06/12
The Flagship Detroit, an American Airlines (AA) DC-3 is currently stationed at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The Flagship Detroit is the sister aircraft to the first international aircraft that landed at Malton Airport nearly seventy years ago. That DC-3 was an American Airlines flight arriving from Buffalo, New York.
The Flagship Detroit, the oldest operational DC-3, will be on display and available for public viewing at Toronto Pearson on Wednesday, June 13, between 11 am and 7 pm at the Central Deicing Facility (2400 Britannia Road East). The GTAA is proud to mark this historic visit, particularly in light of the recent completion of Toronto Pearson’s construction program and in recognizing American Airlines’ place in the history of the airport. According to Toby Lennox, Vice President, Corporate Affairs for the GTAA, “This visit reinforces the longstanding tradition of service that American Airlines has with Toronto and this airport’s ability to serve passengers flying to and from the U.S. We continue to work closely with all U.S. carriers to ensure that Toronto Pearson offers the appropriate services for all passengers.” View footage of Toby Lennox, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, welcoming the DC-3 to Toronto Pearson: Windows Media Video [4 MB]
