Dwayne MacIntosh
Deputy Fire Chief, Training and Development

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Deputy Chief MacIntosh started his firefighting career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1988 as a Recruit Firefighter. Throughout his 14 years service, he acquired expertise in emergency firefighting procedures and became Platoon Chief for the Department of National Defence (DND).

MacIntosh is a Fire Service Instructor for the following courses: Structural Fires, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, Automobile Fires and Casualty Extrication Ops, Confined Spaces, Special Problem Fires, Shipboard Firefighter, Hazardous Material Incidents, Classroom Instruction, Fire Inspection, Fire Investigations, Medical Ops and Training Ops. D.C. MacIntosh accepted the position of Fire Service Instructor in 2001 and was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in January of 2006. Brian Ross
Chief Training Officer

A native of Brampton, Ontario, he started his firefighting career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980. Throughout his career with the DND, he developed from a Recruit Firefighter to the Platoon Chief level in both official languages (French and English). He is a Fire Service Instructor of the following courses: Structural Fires, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, Automobile Fires and Casualty Extrication Ops, Confined Spaces, Special Problem Fires, Shipboard Firefighter, Hazardous Material Incidents, Classroom Instruction, Fire Inspections, Fire Investigation, Medical Ops and Training Ops. In November 2000, after 20 years service with the DND, CTO Ross accepted the position of Fire Service Instructor and was then promoted to Chief Training Officer in 2006.

C.T.O. Ross holds a Diploma in Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University and is certified by International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), Oklahoma State University for the following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards:

Luciano Gentile
Standards Officer

A native of St. Leonard, Quebec. Capt. Luciano Gentile started his firefighting career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980 as a Recruit Firefighter. Throughout his 27 years service, he acquired expertise in emergency firefighting procedures and became Platoon Chief for the Department of National Defence (DND).

Captain Dan Beaudoin

Captain Beaudoin is a native of Gatineau, Quebec and started his firefighting career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1981. Captain Les Dupuis

A native of Donkin, Nova Scotia, he started his firefighting career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1992 and developed from a Recruit Firefighter to Crew Chief. He is a Fire Service Instructor for the following courses: Structural Fires, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, Automobile Fires and Casualty Extrication Ops, Confined Spaces, Special Problem Fires, Shipboard Fire Fighting, Classroom Instruction, Fire Inspections, Medical Ops and Training Ops. After 7 years service as DND Fire Service, Captain Dupuis accepted a position as a firefighter at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority Emergency Services in February of 1999. He was promoted to a Captain of the training department In July of 2004. He is a Training Officer and certified by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and Oklahoma State University for the following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards:

Captain Rob Lenders

A native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, he started his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1985. Captain Lenders transferred from Combat Arms in 1990 to become a Firefighter with DND Fire Service and eventually became Platoon Chief. Captain Lenders has skills in emergency firefighting procedures and is a Fire Service Instructor of: Structural Fires, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, Automobile Fires and Casualty Extrication Ops, Confined Spaces, Special Problem Fires, Shipboard Fire Fighting, Hazardous Material Incidents, Classroom Instruction, Fire Inspections, Fire Investigation, Medical Ops and Training Ops. After 20 years service with the DND, Captain Lenders accepted the position of Fire Service Instructor at the GTAA Emergency Services in October of 2005.

Captain Sylvain Thériault

Captain Thériault is a Training Officer at FESTI. A native of Montréal Quebec, he started his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1985. Throughout his career with the DND Fire Service, he developed from a Recruit firefighter to the Platoon Chief level. Eventually becoming an instructor at the Canadian Forces Fire Academy in Borden. Capt Thériault has skills in emergency fire fighting procedures including: Structural Fires, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, Automobile fires and Casualty Extrication Ops, Confined Spaces rescue, machinery rescue, collapse building and trench rescue, Special Problem Fires, Shipboard Fire Fighting, Hazardous Material incidents, Classroom Instruction, Fire Inspections, Fire Investigation, Medical Ops, Training Ops and is a Fire Service Instructor of all previous listed courses. After 21.5 years service with the DND, Captain Thériault accepted the position of Fire Service Instructor at the GTAA FESTI in December 2006.

Captain Phil Bott

A native of Alma, Ontario, he started his firefighting career with the Clifford Volunteer Fire Department in 1999 and developed from an Auxiliary Firefighter to Assistant Training Officer. He attended Lambton college for Fire Science Technology in 2001 and graduated top of his class in 2004. Throughout his schooling he spent 4 co-op terms with the GTAA Fire and Emergency Services Training Division. In November of 2004 he accepted a position with the GTAA as a Firefighter. In 2007 he was promoted to Captain/Fire Service Instructor. Currently he instructs the following courses: Confined Space entry, Hazardous Materials Operations and Technician levels, Medical Operations including CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation, and fire extinguisher training. Phil is certified by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and Oklahoma State University for the following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards:

Captain Steve Hall

Captain Hall is a Training Officer at the GTAA Emergency Services. He is a native of Oakville Ontario, who started his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1985. Captain Dave Lane

A native of Kingsville, Ontario, he started his firefighting career with the Lacombe Volunteer Fire Department, Lacombe Alberta in 1994. Progressing from firefighter to Captain/Assistant Training Officer. In 1999 Dave accepted a position as a full-time Instructor for the Alberta Fire Training school, Vermilion Alberta, and instructing structural fire fighting operations, vehicle extrication, fire officer, incident command, hazmat, fire service instructor and industrial fire fighting courses. After two and a half years he transferred to AFTS’s Fort McMurray operations, as an Instructor teaching numerous firefighting programs. Dave completed his emergency medical responder training and certification in September of 2000 and his emergency medical technician – ambulance training in March of 2005. In September of 2003 Dave accepted a position as a full-time industrial firefighter with Albian Sands Energy Inc. in Fort McMurray. He developed from a fire fighter position to a emergency Co-ordinator (Captain position, were he spent the last two and a half years until he accepted the position of Fire Service Instructor at the GTAA FESTI in December of 2007. Currently Dave is responsible for the delivery of all Technical rescue programs for FESTI NFPA 1006 awareness, rope rescue, confined space rescue and industrial rope rescue. Dave is certified by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and Oklahoma State University for the following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards:

Captain Theresa Klauke

A native of Oromocto, New Brunswick, she started her medical career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990. Throughout her career with the DND, she developed from a Recruit Medic to a fully qualified medical professional with skills in emergency medicine, palliative care, health care, special needs, suicide intervention and medical instruction. After 14 years of service with the DND, Captain Klauke accepted the position of Emergency Medical Services Training Officer in November of 2004.

Paul Parker is the Training Operator/Technician and a native of Toronto, Ontario. He started his firefighting career at Toronto Pearson International Airport in 1978. After 19 years as a firefighter on crew, Paul took a position with the training department and is now responsible for the operation and maintenance of all training aids for the Training Institute.

Marion Madden

A native of Toronto, Ontario, she started her career as an Administrative Assistant with the GTAA in 1999 with the Engineering Department during the construction phase of the new Terminal 1 and the Re-Development of Terminal 3. After seven years, Marion took an Administrative position with the GTAA Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute.
